How do I take care of my product?
Learn here how to wash, store and handle your product - to extend their lifespan, reduce waste and get the most out of them!
Taking care of your chest binder.
Wether it's your first chest binder or you already have owned some, it's always good to review how to handle it.
Washing your chest binder:
- Do I need to wash my binder after every use? No. As a rule of thumb, you should wash it every 3 to 4 wears, or as soon as it starts to become dirty (observe stains and odour and wrinkles). This could mean every other day or once a week, depending on how often you wear it, how much you sweat and how gross it gets. For a moderate use, we can recommend washing your chest binder at least once a week.
- Wash by hand in cold or cool water. If you cannot wash by hand, set a low temperature, delicate cycle on your washing machine. Hot temperature can make the fabric wear out faster in compression garments. Avoid fabric softener.
-
Hang to dry. Don't tumble dry, the high temperature can make the fabric wear out faster in compression garments.
Taking care of your tucking underwear and gaff.
Tucking underwear is a particular type of underwear that provides increased compression on the genital area, allowing for a smoother appearance - they can help you keep your tuck in place or flatten the area when you are not tucking or half-tucking.
Washing your gaffs and tucking underwear:
- Do I need to wash my tucking gaff after every use? Yes. As with any underwear, it's recommended to wash them after each use before wearing them again, to prevent the proliferation of bacteria.
- Wash by hand in cold or cool water. If you cannot wash by hand, set a low temperature, delicate cycle on your washing machine. Hot temperature can make the fabric wear out faster in compression garments. Avoid fabric softener.
- Hang to dry. Don't tumble dry, the high temperature can make the fabric wear out faster in compression garments.
Taking care of your Packing Boxers
Our boxers can be used with or without padding or packers. Independently of what's in them, we recommend treating them as any other type of underwear
Washing your boxers:
- Remove any padding or packers! Paddings can be washed like you wash your boxers, but it's best to separate them first.
- Do I need to wash my boxers after every use? Yes. As with any underwear, it's recommended to wash them after each use before wearing them again, to prevent the proliferation of bacteria.
- Machine wash with delicate cycle. The regular setting can cause holes, rips, and tears in underwear.
- Hang to dry. Tumble dry is not preferred as it can wear our your boxers faster.
Taking care of your Bras and Bralette.
Bras and Bralette can be used on their own or be combined with silicone protheses or foam padding. To extend their lifespan, we recommend taking some precautions when washing your bra or bralette.
Washing your Bra and Bralette:
- Remove any padding or protheses! Foam paddings can be washed like you wash your bra, but it's best to separate them first.
- Do I need to wash my bra or bralette after every use? No. Bras and Bralettes can be worn multiple times before wash; as a rule of thumb you should wash them every 3 to 4 uses. This depends on your body, how much you sweat and what activities you do while wearing them. Look for signs of dirt (odour, stains, wrinkles on the fabric).
- Machine wash with delicate cycle. The regular setting can cause holes, rips, and tears.
- Hang to dry. Tumble dry is not preferred as it can wear our your bras and bralettes faster.
Taking care of your foam paddings.
Wether it's a penis padding, a vulva padding or a bra padding, don't forget to wash it! Foam can be washed like your underwear, but after drying you should always re-shape them by hand to make them return to their initial shape!
Washing your Paddings:
- Remove from clothes! washing them on their own allows for better cleaning, on the padding and on your underwear.
- Do I need to wash paddings after every use? Yes and No. Penis and Vulva padding sit near your genital area, so they should be washed more often (1-2 uses is recommended) to prevent the proliferation of bacteria and dirt. Bra paddings sit on a less delicate area, but are still subject to sweat and dirt, wash them with your bras and bralette, every 3-4 uses on average.
- Always wash by hand in cool water. Machine washing is not recommended, but if you cannot wash by hand, use a delicate cycle and cold water.
- Hang to dry. Tumble dry is not preferred as it can wear our your padding faster and make it harder to re-shape.
Swimming with your gender affirming clothes:
Some of our products are safe to swim with and others (coming) are designed specifically as swimwear!
Only use swim safe products (gaffs, binders, prothesis and tape that can be used in water).
Salt and chlorine water can wear down the products faster - wash the salt or chlorine away as soon as you can.
How do I use my products safely?
Chest binding and tucking can cause discomfort and health issues if done incorrectly for a long time. We have selected products that prioritise the safety and wellbeing of people in their design and manufacturing, however it's always important to be sure you are listening to your body and using them correctly.
Here you can find some simple guidelines to use our products to ensure your wellbeing and comfort.
Safe chest binding:
Sizing: Make sure you have the right size for your body. If you are in-between sizes, we recommend going up for daily comfort.
Timing: If it’s your first time, start slow - keep it on for one hour, gradually increase, never exceeding 8 hours. Don’t wear the binder to sleep, only use sports-safe binders for swimming and working out. If you want to bind longer, we suggest changing to a soft binder or a worn out one to decrease the pressure on your chest.
Safe tucking:
Sizing: Make sure you have the right size for your body. If you are in-between sizes, we recommend going up for maximum daily comfort.
Timing: Only tuck when necessary (e.g. Wearing tight fitting clothes). If it’s your first time tucking, start slow, the safe range is 8-12 hours, but stop earlier if you feel pain. Gaffs that can be used without a tuck are a good way to let the area rest.
Using tape safely:
Your skin might get irritated - test it on the forearm or leg before committing to it.
Always cover delicate areas (nipples, exposed areas of genitals) with tissue or cotton pads. For chest binding, it can be used to up to 5 days. Use body oil for 3-5 minutes when removing, peel gently, support the skin.
Wait 24 hours before taping again.
